Francisco de Goya (1746–1828) was a leading portrait painter and graphic artist in Spain. The artist experimented with a variety of techniques and produced an enormous body of work — about 500 oil paintings and murals, nearly 300 etchings and lithographs, and several hundred drawings. He painted not only portraits of noble people and the fashionable elite but also artisans, labourers, the victims of poverty, outcasts, creatures an monsters. Los Caprichosa set of 80 etchings, is one of the hallmarks of Goya's artistry.
